No internet connection in windows vista

Saturday, April 5, PM. Still no progress for me. I wish Microsoft would answer this issue. I've been on the lookout for other solutions ever since I posted my solution. I've pretty much had the same thing happen to me with a new laptop, right out of the box. No updates can be done because even windows update can't access the internet, yet I get an assigned IP with DHCP from the router and can ping google.

I've also had it that I can get to google but no one else. Other software requiring internet access or HTTP protocal can access the net.

Its update KB Its a shame that they cause their own programs to stop working. The second link is a "resolution" they have, however they want the user to contact a third party vendor to solve the issue. I found it much easier to uninstall the update. Thursday, April 17, PM. Solved same problem with my Gateway M-Series. Full connectivity restored by "exiting" five programs from taskbar.

Did leave Mcaffee running,,also left on the Synaptics Pointing Device. At this time I'm not sure which program was the trouble maker.. I will find out by shutting off one at a time! Good Luck! Friday, May 2, AM. I just followed what Noneed posted reseting winsock and all is well. BTW, it wasn't a windows update in my case. NET Framework 3. Pinging everything in my network worked, but I could not connect to any web service, nor could I connect to any websites outside of my network DNS queries and pings via domain name failed.

But if the program hasn't tried that, the Windows error reporting service thing won't pop up. It only happens when internet access has been attempted.

This applies to the bit version of Internet Explorer too. So I'm forced to use the bit version right now, wich btw can't play Flash or run Java applets, because neither Adobe or Sun have released versions that support bit browsers.

When I connect my laptop wich is running Windows XP bit to the Internet everything works as it should, so there doesn't seem to be a problem with my internet connection. It's just that I kind of whant a internet connection to this computer too. I reinstalled my motherboard drivers too, wich involves Ethernet drivers, but it's still the same. Checking settings for internet options, networking options etc. I know they are right, but still it doesn't work. I think I might be the only one on the planet with this problem, honestly.

If you still don't have any new ideas I think that's what I will do. But Thank you for taking your time helping me! I am having the exact same problem. All of my bit internet applications were working and then all of a sudden they stopped, however, my bit internet applications work just fine. Whenever I close a bit program that tried to use the internet it crashes and gives me an error relating to ntdll. I am using an Intel Core 2 Duo on Vista bit. It is not an incompatibility between bit apps and Vista because they all ran fine before.

I have not installed any new hardware or software. I also use NOD At least 2 times when starting up my system NOD32 kernel have crashed after freezing the system for a few seconds. I never thought about it that much, but maybe something happened then.
