Ethan is the oldest and he is hanging out with Mike, Jack and David his fathers old friends. They have stayed together and help raise Liam and Sera's kid. He see's Kathleen his mothers best friend and He goes and talks to her. Kathleen has not see or heard from Sera in over 15yrs.
Kathleen has 2 daughters Deila and Jess. They surprise Sera and come to visit and stay for 2 weeks with them. Jess's boyfriend Stepan accompanies them and he is the same Older Vampire that David meet in bk. Stepan is plus yrs old. This is were my problem begins with the story.
Stephan had to be told almost at the very end of the book that he and Isabelle where soul mates. Isabelle is Liam and Sera's 2nd child she is now 23 yrs old.
Whats so silly about the story is Isabelle never whats the same things her parents have love, happiness, not wanting to be separated from each other. She doesn't want to be that dependent on a man. So she avoids Stepan and pick fights with him and uses Jess as a excuse to stay away form him even after he has broken up with Jess and asked her leave which she did for a day.
What woman doesn't want love and happiness and family. It didn't make sense. Some women don't want children but they do want a deep connection and a intimate relationship. Their was so much angst from beginning to end of in this story it weighed me down. The two of them constantly bickering and auguring got on my nerves. Instead of Romance we got Tug Of War. If you like a lot of angst then this book is for you.
I like a more balance approach. The sex scene which don't happen until toward the end are very boring a blah blah. I believe Ms. Davies was having PMS when she wrote "Destined", because it is an emotional mess.

But at its core its boy meets girl, girl resists 'destiny' so overworked as a plot device in this kind of young adult romance genre but ends up accepting the attraction As i say all straight forward and standard stuff The total change in attitude on the part of Stefan is silly.
Characterisation: i felt like smashing my head against a wall at times. Too many characters! Over 12 immediate peeps means characterisation is shallow and fleeting from everyone. Frankly given how important this area is for this genre its a major failure in the book. Honestly you will end up disliking both the main characters and liking the villains. Sex scenes: crappy. This read like a naive teenagers vision of sex. All kisses, brooding stares and rough fumbles.
If you like mediocrity, read this. If weak characters and average plot devices do it for you; go right ahead. Feb 19, Lina rated it it was amazing. I felt like this book was my vampire soul-mate and I needed to devour every word. I was angry and snapped at anyone who disturbed my reading time.
I tried to read any free second I got and I loved everything about it. I love a possessive protagonist but a possessive vampire is times better. Ultra Mega HOT. Destined is Isabelle's story, who is the daughter of the protagonists from the first book in the series. She is afraid to find her soul-mate because she doesn't want her life to depend of I felt like this book was my vampire soul-mate and I needed to devour every word.
She is afraid to find her soul-mate because she doesn't want her life to depend of someone's else existence, even if she has grown up watching the eternal love her parents share. Little does she know that even locked in her house she finds the man that will shatter her world. Isabelle will fight with all her mind against the attraction, but some bonds aren't meant to be broken.
Isabelle was the kind of heroine I least identify with--avoiding a relationship and being stupid. I also did not like Stefan. Don't know why she liked him either. Or he liked her.
So I guess match made in heaven. Nov 04, Coco. V marked it as to-read Shelves: freebie. View 1 comment. Isabelle has always hidden herself away at her family's home because she doesn't want to lose herself in someone, have her life tied to someone, like her parent's.
However, a stranger arrives who ends up being that soul mate she has hidden from for years. This one was good as well except for a bit at the end when the Another good book in this series. This one was good as well except for a bit at the end when the heroine was being a judgmental bitch, but then her mother set her straight.
I'm really enjoying this series and plan to read the rest of the books. May 20, Angel rated it really liked it. So let me start off by saying so far these are my favorite couples. However there were parts in the story that I lagged on and I don't know. Just certain parts of it didn't hold my attention. And that's familiar with any kind of book really. I do love their story though.
And that's the best I can give right now because it's really late at night and I'm exhausted. Moving on to the next book. Jun 30, Debra Johnson rated it liked it Shelves: adult , sharedamazon , sharedfacebook , 1-owned-all , romance , book-rejected , paranormal.
Destined by Brenda K. Davies Genres; Adult ish , Paranormal, Romance 3 Stars This one was loaded with repetitious internal thoughts and dialog.
Instead of being better it was worse than book 1. It's too bad, because the author had a pretty good idea for a series. This world has both born and made vampires. However, the actions, dialog and wording causes the maturity level to drop drastically. The repetitions are so bad it makes you want to throw the book against the wall. Everything is so drawn out i Destined by Brenda K. Everything is so drawn out in the most monotonous details that it would make a good sedative.
I recommend this book to those having trouble sleeping. It will put you out or make your scream with frustration. View all 3 comments. There consists eternal love, the best of friends, fighting, anger, it's just packed full of the good stuff.
I am very much enjoying this series so far. It's not too much of one thing though it's all spread out lol. Aug 02, Tarisa Marie rated it it was ok Shelves: not-continuing-series. Very disappointed in this book. There were gaps and missing information. No character chemistry. Do they even love each other? Like what was that? The author clearly has potential. Her writing style was entertaining, but not polished.
Jul 10, Chelsea rated it it was ok Shelves: paranormal. The writing needs a lot of polish. My main gripe with this one is the characters. Isabell spends most of the book having a gigantic pity party because she never wanted to find a mate and now she has. I ended up skimming a lot of her inner dialogue because it became repetitive.
Stephan becomes likable in the next book, but he left a lot to be desired in this one. Also, why does every story in this series have a psycho ex? We got a tiny bit more world building in this book but not much. I liked that this book stayed within the family and we got to see more of Liam and Sera.
Loved it, Sara and Liam are living the life they love surrounded by their family. This second book in this series focuses on Isabelle, quiet sweet Isabelle not the traits you would normally associate with a vampire lol but Isabelle is a sweetheart her whole family love her and will do anything to make her happy, but never forget Isabelle is a vampire and she will protect her loved ones at all cost.
Stefan is everything you would expect from an old vampire, he is power personified it just oozes from him, he is also beyond good looking and when he sets eyes on Isabelle for the first time his world turns upside down in ways he never expected, never dreamt of but can he make her see everything they can be together or will Isabelle keep running from him.
I liked the first one better with Sera and Liam. I really didnt like Stefan. He was such a jerk sometimes I just wanted to punch him in the face and I never felt they really loved each other rather then just being stuck with each other because they are soul mates.

The second in the Vampire awakenings series, and I think I have found my new found favourite series. Brenda has well and truly brought back me into the world of vampires, I really recommend this book to you all.

What I think I am going to like about this series is that each book follows the same story line, re visiting previous characters however the point of view is from a different perspective. This book is based on Isabelle the second eldest of the 10 children. The way Brenda has wrote these books reminds me of how author Nalini Singh shares her books, same story but different characters perspectives.
It keeps the series fresh, and leaves you wanting more. You could read this as a stand alone, however for better context I would advise reading the whole series, it flows better.
Isbaelle and Stefan portray plenty of sexual tension throughout, each chapter was full of character growth, love and pure lust. I really liked the family dynamic, and the inside jokes. The action again was fast and happened in the very end, I wish it was spread throughout the book.
As soon as the fighting began it ended. I enjoyed reading about Liam and Sera throughout, but they were mentioned briefly leaving Isabelle as the clear focus. So far out of the two books this is my favourite. I do think there was some influence from the twilight saga series in this.
Apr 29, Suzette D rated it really liked it. Good plot could do some more. For a vampire that old I was expecting something more vampire tastic. I have read kresley cole Luther and it was something else. The crying females come on. Not needed. And there were some repetitive areas. Some fun areas were in there. Sep 01, NAT.
So, to make this quick and painless, I didn't feel it. I just couldn't catch up to the romantic vibes that this story was supposed to be made of. After all the hell that Stefan put me through throughout the entirety of this book especially the first half of it I cannot give this more than three stars. However, I cannot give it any less due to the truly sophisticated nature of Davies' writing. Once again, she has managed to create a unique and captivating world with her vampire characters.

She has lived her entire life safely ensconced in her family's rural territory. She is perfectly content with her secluded lifestyle, along with her older brother Ethan, until one fateful night she meets Stefan, the vampire destined to change her eternity forever.
Stefan is a lone-vampire, over years old, with a dark and treacherous past. There were strands of gray streaked throughout her hair. This is what his mother should look like, he realized with a start. The thought was incredibly sad, and more than a little frightening. For the first time he truly began to realize his immortality.
Ethan blinked in surprise as he was pulled out of his reverie. A pretty waitress stood before him, an admiring gleam in her dark brown eyes as she openly surveyed him. He returned her smile without thinking. She grinned at him and moved a little closer, the menus in her hand brush ed against his chest. Her mouth pouted prettily as she took a step back. Ethan brushed past her, instantly forgetting her existence as he made his way toward Kathleen.
She looked up from the paper she had been engrossed in, her large blue eyes blinking in surprise as her mouth gaped open. Ethan smiled as he slid into the booth across from her. Her eyes widened even more as a bright smile spread over her pretty face. Ethan grinned as he slid an arm over the back of the booth. How is she? Although she had gained some weight, and her face was more lined, she was much like the Kathleen that he recalled.
She was b right and energetic, with an easy smile, and an amazing amount of warmth pouring from her. For a moment he felt a stab of pain for his parents, and their friends. They had been forced to let Kathleen go, forced to push her out of their lives in order to protect Kathleen , and themselves. Ethan snorted as he grinned brightly. Big was not the way that he would describe the mob that was his family.
He had forgotten how bl unt, and open, Kathleen was. He nodded as he thought of the giant pain in the asses hiding in the alley across the street. So how about you rself? What have you been up to? Ethan chewed thoughtfully on his bottom lip. She grinned as she pointed at him. Kathleen sighed and her eyes snapped back to his.
Kathleen gave him a sad smile as she nodded and took a sip of her water. Home English Online. Read Book Download Book. Keeping Secrets by Linda Byler. The Anarchist Cookbook by William Powell. Enchanting Wilder by Cassie Graham. Beyond the Past by Carly Fall. Star Vigilante Vigilante Series by T.
