Box Detroit, MI Page Weight Of The Trailer Tongue Weight of the Trailer Tongue The tongue load A of any trailer is an important weight to measure because it affects the total or gross weight of your vehicle.

The Gross Vehicle Weight GVW includes the curb weight of the vehicle, any cargo you may carry in it, and the people who will be riding in the vehicle. See Loading Your Vehicle on page Acquaint yourself with the feel of handling and braking with the added weight of the trailer.

You should not have to add anything to your fuel. To help avoid injuries to you and others, read and follow all the instructions on the pump island. Turn off your engine when you are refueling. Do not smoke if you are near fuel or refueling your vehicle. Page While refueling, hang the fuel cap by the tether from the hook on the fuel door. To remove the fuel cap, turn it slowly to the left counterclockwise.

The fuel cap has a spring in it; if you let go of the cap too soon, it will spring back to the right. Page When you put the fuel cap back on, turn it to the right clockwise until you hear a clicking sound.

See Passenger Compartment Air Filter on page However, not all synthetic oils will meet this GM standard. These numbers on an oil container show its viscosity, or thickness. This is based on engine revolutions and engine temperature, and not on mileage. Based on driving conditions, the mileage at which an oil change will be indicated can vary considerably.

Page After the oil has been changed, the Change Engine Oil message and the oil life indicator must be reset. Do not let used oil stay on your skin for very long. Clean your skin and nails with soap and water, or a good hand cleaner. If a leak occurs, take your vehicle to the dealership service department and have it repaired as soon as possible. Disc brake pads have built-in wear indicators that make a high-pitched warning sound when the brake pads are worn and new pads are needed.

Page Battery If you do not, your brakes may no longer work properly. For example, if someone puts in brake linings that are wrong for your vehicle, the balance between your front and rear brakes can change — for the worse. The braking performance you have come to expect can change in many other ways if someone puts in the wrong replacement brake parts.

Page Jump Starting Jump Starting If your battery has run down, you may want to use another vehicle and some jumper cables to start your vehicle. Be sure to follow the steps below to do it safely. Page 7. Now connect the black negative cable to the negative terminal of the good battery. Page 9. Connect the other end of the negative cable at least 18 inches 45 cm away from the dead battery, but not near engine parts that move. The electrical connection is just as good there, and the chance of sparks getting back to the battery is much less.

Page Jumper Cable Removal A. Disconnect the black negative cable from the vehicle that had the dead battery. However, there are two additional systems that need lubrication. Have it inspected and repaired. How to Check Lubricant To get an accurate reading, the vehicle should be on a level surface. Page Tires Tires Your new vehicle comes with high-quality tires made by a leading tire manufacturer. If you ever have questions about your tire warranty and where to obtain service, see your GM Warranty booklet for details. Page Winter Tires Winter Tires If you expect to drive on snow or ice covered roads often, you may want to get winter tires for your vehicle.

All season tires provide good overall performance on most surfaces but they may not offer the traction you would like or the same level of performance as winter tires on snow or ice covered roads. The TIN shows the manufacturer and plant code, tire size, and date the tire was manufactured. The TIN is molded onto both sides of the tire, although only one side may have the date of manufacture.

Page Tire Size Tire Size The following illustrations show the different parts of a tire size code. Air pressure is expressed in pounds per square inch psi or kilopascal kPa. Accessory Weight: This means the combined weight of optional accessories.

Page Load Index: An assigned number ranging from 1 to that corresponds to the load carrying capacity of a tire. The maximum air pressure is molded onto the sidewall. Also, check the tire pressure of the compact spare tire. It should be at 60 psi kPa. How to Check Use a good quality pocket-type gage to check tire pressure.

Page 5. Remove the valve cap from the valve stem. Due to this, your tires should not be rotated. Each tire and wheel should be used only in the position it is in. Check your tires and wheels regularly for unusual wear and damage. See Loading Your Vehicle on page , for examples of the labels and where they can be found on your vehicle. Page Uniform Tire Quality Grading Uniform Tire Quality Grading Quality grades can be found where applicable on the tire sidewall between tread shoulder and maximum section width.

Sustained high temperature can cause the material of the tire to degenerate and reduce tire life, and excessive temperature can lead to sudden tire failure. Page Used Replacement Wheels Each new wheel should have the same load-carrying capacity, diameter, width, offset and be mounted the same way as the one it replaces.

If you need to replace any of your wheels, wheel bolts or wheel nuts, replace them only with new GM original equipment parts. Install them on the rear axle tires and tighten them as tightly as possible with the ends securely fastened.

The vehicle can slip off the jack and roll over you or other people. If your vehicle has the cargo management system, remove the storage bin to access the jack.

Do the following to check the cable: 1. Check under the vehicle to see if the cable is visible. If the spare tire does not slide off the jack completely, make sure no one is behind you or on either side of you as you pull the jack out from the spare. Lower the jack by turning the wheel wrench counterclockwise. Keep lowering the jack until the spare tire is resting on the wheel wrench. Grasp the spare tire with both hands and pull it out from under the vehicle. Be careful; the edges may be sharp.

Attach the wheel wrench to the jack. Page Remove any rust or dirt from the wheel bolts, mounting surfaces and spare wheel. The wheel could come off and cause an accident. This could lead to an accident. Be sure to use the correct wheel nuts. Page Storing the Flat Tire with Third Row Passengers Put back all tools as they were stored in the rear storage compartment and put the compartment cover back on. Use the power third row seat button near the liftgate to tilt the third row seatback forward slightly.

In a sudden stop or collision, loose equipment could strike someone. Store all these in the proper place. Attach the wheel wrench to the hoist shaft. Turn the wheel wrench clockwise to lift the spare tire. When the tire is almost in the stored position, turn the tire so that the valve stem is towards the rear of the vehicle.

It should be 60 psi kPa. Some are toxic. Some are dangerous if you breathe their fumes in a closed space. Cleaning Wood Panels Use a clean cloth moistened in warm, soapy water use mild dish washing soap.
